Camp Manager

We are currently seeking a Camp Manager interested in working in an operational remote camp. The camp provides lodging facilities, dining room services, recreational and leisure amenities to residents. The Camp Manager is accountable to the Business Operations Manager to ensure the efficient operation of all support services at the camp. This encompasses the administration, staffing/scheduling, client/customer relations, supervision of food services, accommodations, maintenance and retail components.

Knowledge of accommodations and facility management systems as well as standards for all aspects of the Food Services, Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance is paramount.   It is the responsibility of the Camp Manager to ensure that all departments operate in accordance with the policies and procedures of Falcon Camp Services Inc. The position is also responsible for providing direction to food service team members in their day to day preparation and delivery of food to guests. Further, it is a supervisory role to ensure all food preparation areas maintain a focus on delivering a consistent, high quality food product. The Camp Manager works with the Chef and kitchen staff to continually improve guest satisfaction while maintaining expenses. This position requires the individual to work 12 hours per day or more, as required by business demands or emergencies and unforeseen events. This position will report to the Area Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for overall performance of the camp while ensuring exceptional client satisfaction as well as maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Develop an excellent rapport and have direct communication with client's Project Supervisor.
  • Weekly reports to the Business Manager; submitting man day reports, inventory counts & grocery orders, etc.
  • Obtain pre-approval from the client and the Business Manager for extra expenses incurred.
  • Provide day to day administrative support, data entry, photocopying, scheduling, meeting preparation, and general filing duties as needed.     
  • Provide front desk services for the camp, including welcoming guests, check-in, check-outs, & customer service.
  • Posting and enforcing camp rules in common areas.
  • Segregate crews and night shift workers into designated accommodations.
  • Assist with Document Control - organize and update project related files; electronic and hard copy, while working with head office.
  • Manage office requirements including office supplies, couriers, IT requests and other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate travel and special events as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project letters, presentations, spreadsheets, and request for quotations and tender submissions, etc.
  • Research and procurement as needed.
  • Implement administrative processes and procedures as well as suggest and assist with improvements to the existing processes.
  • Assist with HR process, completing necessary forms for new hires.
  • Able to code and track Field Tickets and Charge Sheets.
  • Be conversant and knowledgeable on any given project, in order to provide support and direction when staff are away, thereby assisting where needed to support the team.

Qualifications & Certification

  • Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test required
  • Administrative Certificate or equivalent.
  • 5+ year's administrative experience; preferably in large remote camp environment.
  • Food Safe Level 2
  • A strong commitment to safety and safe work practice.
  • Petroleum Safety Training or Construction Safety Training System.
  • OFA Level 1 & WHIMIS is an asset.
