This position is responsible for providing leadership to food service team members in day to day preparation and distribution of food. This role is responsible to supervise all food preparation areas, with a focus on delivering a consistent, high quality food product.The Chef will develop meal plans, do inventory, grocery orders, and provide direction to all kitchen staff, to ensure an outstanding quality of food. You are expected to be a leader, team player and example of excellence.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Mange kitchen scheduling, menu planning, and forecasting.
  • Inventory management and ordering.
  • Providing supervision, guidance and support to all kitchen staff including; training and development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Able to delegate assigned job tasks, employee evaluation and performance management.
  • Working with the Camp Manager, and Regional Manager to achieve personal and company goals.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and a working rapport with guests and clients.
  • Ensuring the client is satisfied with the overall service, cleanliness, and maintenance of the kitchen and dining facilities.
  • Reviews daily production sheets with the team and prepare the necessary food items in accordance to standards in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met.
  • Keep work stations clean and organized including fridges/freezers and counter/stove tops.
  • Ensure station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard.
  • Ensure the proper rotation, labeling, and storing to keep food waste at a minimum.
  • Ensure that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with HACCP and government Food Safety guidelines.
  • Report all deficiencies in kitchen equipment functionality and quality of food products to the Chef in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the camp health and safety program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Physically fit & healthy for frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting 50lbs.

Qualification & Certification

  • Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test required.
  • Red Seal Certification or completion of college or other programs in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • 5+ years of food service experience as a Chef preferably in a large remote camp environment.
  • Food Safe Level 2.
  • A strong commitment to safety and safe work practice.
  • Petroleum Safety Training or Construction Safety Training System.
  • OFA Level 1 & WHIMIS is an asset
